Khelo India Winter games to be held in Gulmarg

Sports minister Kiran Rijiju has announced to  inaugurate  " khelo India " winter games in Jammu&Kashmir. Union Territory of Ladakh will have the inaugural ceremony  of khelo India winter games of this month, followed by a similar event in union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

• This event will start from third week of  February and last up to first week of March.
• This game  will feature an open Ice Hockey championship, figure skating,  speed  skating competition and the competition will be conducted at the block, district and UT levels. 
• Khelo India  winter games will be held at Kongdori, Gulmarg in four age categories for both boys and girls.  Jammu and Kashmir  was a region formally administered by India  as a state from 1954 to 2019. But in 31st October 2019 it has become a union territory divided into two parts one is  Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir and other is Union Territory of Ladakh.

• Jammu and Kashmir has two capitals- Srinagar( May to October)
• Jammu( November to April). Capital of newly formed Union Territory, Ladakh is Leh.  Present governor of Jammu and Kashmir is Girish Chandra Murmu. Present governor of Ladakh is Radha Krishna Mathur.
