In 2018, the Maharashtra Government had imputed a ban on manufactured, use, sale, distribution, and storage of plastic equipments that one time use bags, spoons, and plates among others.
Noticable points
- The government has also fixed the buying rate at Rs.15 per kilogram under buy-back policy of plastic items from conservancy workers.
- Ban on plastic bottles can not be accomplished as clean drinking water is still not available across the state.
- The self help groups will be given RS.5 crore to induce cloth bags,that has revealed by the Maharashtra Government.
- The used plastic bags will reused in road repairs. Around 7% of plastic is being used for building roads.
