Poshan Abhiyaan
Government of India has implemented POSHAN Abhiyaan to ensure the nutrition of children, women, and pregnant mothers in impoverished areas.

POSHAN Abhiyaan

POSHAN Abhiyaan is a multi-ministerial convergence mission. It's vision is to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has implemented POSHAN Abhiyaan in 315 Districts in first year, 235 Districts in second year and remaining districts will be covered in the third year.
Its objectives are to reduce stunting, under-nutrition, anaemia and low birth weight babies in identified Districts of India with the highest malnutrition burden by improving utilization of key Anganwadi Services and improving the quality of Anganwadi Services delivery.
A great number of schemes are directly or indirect related to uplift the nutritional status of children (0-6 year's age) and pregnant women and lactating mothers.
It was launched by Prime Minister Modi on the International Women's Day on 8 March 2018 in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. Earlier iy was known the National Nutrition Mission.
POSHAN stands for Prime Minister's Overreaching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment.
The Ministry of Women and Child Development is headed by Smt. Smriti Irani.Mr. Ravindra Panwar is the Secretary and Mr. Ajay Tirkey is Special Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
